Summary

The Account Supervisor is responsible for a more senior level management of accounts, account team responsibilities and account development and retention. The Account Supervisor performs strategic and tactical development of direct marketing programs, including target audience identification, data segmentation and list plans, media and contact plans, creative strategy and offer strategy. They are also responsible as a lead relationship builder of Anderson’s accounts. Demonstrates leadership qualities and behavior that guides, directs and influences our associates and enables them to effectively perform their job duties and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the members of the account team.
    • Assists in training, development and morale.
    • Assists in creating team atmosphere and ensures effective and open communication among all account team members.
    • Oversees day-to-day external and internal client activities as needed. Manages and communicates the following information to clients and Anderson departments as required: strategic program plans/briefs, creative briefs, media and list plans, program schedules, mailing and test matrices, budgets and estimates, hot sheets, data processing instructions, web and database instructions, production specifications and estimates.
  •  Serves as a primary client contact on the account team.
    • Maintains positive client relations.
    • Leads and drives regular client status calls.
    • Performs strategic and tactical development of direct marketing programs, including target audience identification, data segmentation and list plans, media and contact plans, creative strategy and offer strategy.
    • Develops direct marketing program goals, objectives and projections.
    • Manages program budgets.
    • Prepares and updates estimates, test matrices, program plans, project schedules, media schedules, creative briefs, and other project-related materials.
    • Client relationship builder and leader; proactively partners with the client to help grow the client’s overall business
  •  Oversees and manages the client project requirements for creative, media and production programs.
    • Manages creative development from concept through final release.
    • Manages the media buying process by ensuring all orders are placed on time and within budget.
    • Oversees production process for direct mail, email and online campaigns.
    • Monitors program results
    • Participates in preparation of response analysis and forward planning strategy.
    • Supports the creative process by providing effective creative briefs, support information and constructive comments to the creative team.
    • Tracks and analyzes results, draws conclusions and makes strategic recommendations.
    • Guides creative strategy and evaluates creative product to ensure it meets objectives.
  •  Works in partnership with the sales team to develop agency and client revenue goals.
    • Oversees and reviews revenue forecasts and reports to Account Director or Senior Account Director.
    • Support the sales and business development team in new business efforts, helping to develop presentations and proposals including strategic review and top level results.
  •  Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 1 or more employees on the account team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; develops performance evaluations, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Marketing or related major; or 6+ years direct marketing related experience in a client services role and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent people skills required. Self-starter, customer focused team player.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
